The simple napkin, which so often sits quietly under the bread or lies on top to keep it warm, here becomes the basket itself.

With this new set of porcelains POLKA in collaboration with Herend wanted to make a new statement in temporary table culture.
The service is especially designed for daily use. For the first time the manufactorer Herend is using blue inglazing for the decoration, hence the porcelain is dishwasher safe.

The new porcelain service was presented for the first time in an installation during Vienna Designweek 2012  in the Bulthaup showroom and at the same time at the Lobmeyr shop in Vienna.

WHITE CHRISTMAS

POLKA’s design for a system of interactive LED snowflakes was awarded first prize in the ‚Light Up’ competition organised by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce. Text messages could be sent by members of the public to a dedicated number, to make the snow flakes brighten and dim intermittently. Using the perspective of the short street in Vienna’s city center POLKA was able to make it snow every single day. In addition, for every text message that was sent, one euro was donated to a local childrens’ charity.

OUR FEATHERED FRIEND

For POLKA’s first appearance at the Salone del Mobile, Milan, they presented a simple, wooden kitchen chair that had been taared with cock feathers.
